WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATIONS SPECIALIST

The Bay County Department of Water & Sewer is seeking resumes from qualified persons for a Water Treatment Plant Operations Specialist at Bay County Department of Water and Sewer. This is a full-time union position.

The current opening is for an afternoon/night shift operator. Water Treatment Plant Operations Specialists work mostly 12-hour shifts, 7 days on with 7 days off. Most shifts for this opening will work 4pm to 4am. This shift earns shift premium and lead pay on top of the base wage. The annual base salary for this position starts at $51,417 and progresses to $59,987 over 24 months, based on the 2026 fiscal year wage scale. Excellent fringe benefits include Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance plans, 13 paid holidays, paid sick and vacation, a defined benefit pension plan, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications include: High School Diploma. Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) F-4 Water Treatment operator certification preferred. Bay County DWS will pay for certification renewals and continue education for EGLE certifications. One year of laboratory, chemical process, or environmental experience preferred.
